The Islamic State of Iraq (ISIS), previously known as al-Qaeda, has stuck an abundant amount of fear into the hearts of several leaders and a number of civilians all across the globe over the past few months. This year, the members of the said militant group have managed to execute crimes of all sorts, mostly involving murder. As a matter of fact, they have just recently gunned down 150 women and children because the females refused to do what the ISIS wants them to do.
It has been revealed that Abu Ana Al-libi, one of the Islamic group’s members, shot 150 women, including those who are pregnant, and young girls. The reason as to why the Islamic State of Iraq committed such horrendous act was because the females have refused to agree to marry the Islamic State Fighters. They have refused to enter into a temporary Jihad marriage with the militants despite the fact that they have been heavily forced by the said men. As a result of their refusal to be treated as sex slaves, the women and young girls have been shot to death by Abu Ana Al-libi and were buried in mass graves in Fallujah. In addition to this, many citizens residing in Al-Anbar have decided to migrate to Al-Wafa after receiving a multitude of death threats.
As of the moment, ISIS militants have over thousands of women and children held as captives, and this is where they pick their next murder victims from. This explicit targeting of women and children who live in minority areas are evidence that the militants who belong in the Islamic State of Iraq deem women as individuals much inferior to men. Based on a surface-level understanding of how the ISIS works, most people would think that ISIS is committing crimes to get the attention of the public in the hopes of promoting the political ideology it upholds; but it is also important to note that all of the crimes it has committed, including the murder of the 150 women, are all in accordance with the edict released by the Islamic State last year after the militants have successfully conquered many towns in Iraq. The 2013 edict does not condone this behavior because they believe that holding women as captives and using them as sex slaves are actually beneficial activities that boost the morale of its members.
As what most people know, the ISIS, aside from its mad killing sprees, is also greatly known for publishing its guidebook which they called “Questions and Answers on Taking Captives and Slaves”. This manual listed a set of instructions for its militant members on how they can rape women that they have managed to turn into their own properties and slaves. Furthermore, it also explains how Islamic Fighter scan buy and sell females who have been held as their captives as prizes of the wars they have won. Keeping this in mind, it cannot be denied how powerful the Islamic State has become. As of today, the ISIS is still incessantly fighting for its belief that all Muslims should live in one Islamic State ruled by what is known as the Sharia law. Through its implicit and explicit attacks, the militant group is continuously challenging the legitimacy and authority of all leaders in the world, and it is up to the international community how they are going to respond to the challenges the Islamic State of Iraq continuously presents to the general public.
