A movie had unfolded right before the very eyes of thousands of netizens as the hacktivist group known as Anonymous revealed its plan via Youtube and Twitter to avenge the death of the victims of the Charlie Hebdo attack which had transpired few days ago in Paris, France.
As what most people from all around the world may already know, twelve people had been killed in the traumatic Charlie Hebdo attack on Wednesday and many employees and policemen were injured. Out of the twelve victims, eight men were journalists in the widely popular Charlie Hebdo magazine. According to reports, what were left in the said magazine’s office after the attack were blood-soaked documents and a hardwood floor covered with the blood of the innocent journalists who have been shot to death.
Immediately after the siege came to an end, hundreds of people went to the Bristol city centre to pay tribute to the innocent Charlies and noble policemen who have been killed by the two ruthless terrorists who were later revealed to be Cherif Kouachi and Siad Kouachi. Some witnesses claim that during the attack, the two brothers revealed that they are members of the al-Qaeda, an extensive militant Islamist organization.
As it had turned out, journalists, media practitioners, and lawmakers were not the only ones who have been deeply bothered by the Charlie Hebdo attack. Even the hacktivist group Anonymous had released their official statement regarding the incident via Twitter by posting a video which they have uploaded in Youtube.
From the video, it can be seen that the hacktivist group Anonymous’ spokesperson was wearing an emblematic Guy Fawkes mask as he explained in French that their group’s members from all across the globe will track down all jihadists and that they will kill each of the militants that they will find. Furthermore, the mysterious spokesperson of the hacktivist group revealed that jihadists cannot get away with imposing their Sharia law in French democracy and freedom. Although the group has no history of killing people, Anonymous has been widely known for shutting down several online accounts and web pages in the past; therefore, they are very much capable of inflicting harm towards anyone in cyberspace.
The aim of Anonymous is to get even with the ISIS and Al-Qaeda members for the harm that they have inflicted upon innocent people. The mask-wearing representative of Anonymous further explained that his group has members all over the world, and therefore they can track down all of the militants’ online activities and shut down their internet accounts. According to the group’s spokesperson, they will shut down all “accounts on social networks related to terrorists” as a form of revenge for the death of the victims of the Charlie Hebdo attack.
